Chapter 105: Counterattack 31

“What else could I possibly be planning? At this point in my journey, there’s nothing left to do but move forward.”

Ming Yue rose from the unnamed male operative’s embrace, tilted her head back to gaze at the bright moon in the sky, and reached out as if trying to grasp it—yet no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t quite catch it.

Suddenly remembering something, Ming Yue pulled out her phone.

But instead of calling someone else, she dialed the number of one of the people she most wanted to erase from this world: Liu Qinxin.

On the other end, upon hearing her call, Liu Qinxin was utterly taken aback and instinctively reached for the receiver to hang up.

Ming Yue, however, was remarkably patient. As soon as the line went dead, she immediately redialed.

It wasn’t until the other end finally answered that Liu Qinxin let out an impatient growl: “You crazy woman! What on earth are you trying to do? Just what exactly are you after? Huh? You’ve already been kicked out—why are you still harassing me? Why won’t you just leave me alone? Why can’t you ever rest?”

“I may have left, but I’m not dead—so where did this ‘haunting spirit’ come from? Or is it because you’ve done so many shady things that you feel like a ghost is always following you wherever you go?”

Ming Yue was somewhat surprised by how strongly Liu Qinxin reacted this time. According to her plan, Liu Qinxin should still be relatively clear-headed at this point.

A Liu Qinxin who was still lucid certainly wouldn’t speak like that.

Of course, she didn’t ask directly; instead, she pressed ahead with her plan. Tilting her head back to look at the moon, she said calmly into the phone:

“Liu Xiao San, you’re feeling guilty, aren’t you? Don’t worry—it’s not yet time. The reason I’m calling you now is because there’s something I think you need to know.”

“Crazy woman, shut up! Just shut up!”

The other end was about to hang up again.

But Ming Yue wasn’t going to let them get away with it. Just as they were about to cut the line, she quickly asked, “Liu Qinxin, aren’t you curious how such a stubborn, difficult person like me managed to get thrown out by your old man?”

“What are you trying to say?”

Sure enough, those words worked like a charm. Liu Qinxin instantly lost any urge to hang up and began pressing Ming Yue for more details.

Ming Yue smirked. “Are your ears deaf, or has your ability to absorb information really worn off? Didn’t you hear what I said? Or do you want me to repeat it? Sorry, but I’m too lazy to bother. Still, I think you’d better find out exactly what tricks your old man used to kick me out. After all, we’ve lived under the same roof for so many days. Let me give you a friendly warning: at least you’ve spent your whole life being a ‘third party.’ But don’t end up with nothing at all—empty-handed—and become the laughingstock of everyone!”

“What did you just say?”

Liu Qinxin was clearly startled.

Ming Yue grew impatient, but she refused to tell him what he so desperately wanted to know. Instead, she said casually, “You really are getting on in years—if you’re going to talk this way, it’s going to take forever! Fine, fine—since you can’t hear or understand anyway, I’m not even going to waste my breath.”

With that, Ming Yue was about to hang up.

But just as she was about to disconnect, she suddenly remembered something and quickly added, “Oh, by the way, Liu—there’s another thing you should know.”

“What are you trying to say now?”

Still caught up in the previous conversation, Liu Qinxin sounded a bit reluctant as he asked.

Ming Yue, however, was delighted. She deliberately paused for a moment, then said slowly into the phone:

“You’re really annoying! Always asking questions—what, are you a ‘Why-asker No. 100,000’? So eager to learn, so fond of asking questions—then why don’t you become an academic instead? Go pursue scholarship!”

Beside her, Jiang Feng thought: “Wow, this little mouth sure knows how to keep it lively!”

Meanwhile, Liu Qinxin fumed: “Damn it! How could I possibly kill this bastard?”

Ming Yue chuckled. “Forget it—I’m in no mood to scold you, so I’ll just tell you straight. Liu Qinxin, after all these years, have you ever stopped to think: what exactly makes you so special that Old Bastard favors you so much? Do you really believe it’s all down to your own irresistible charm?”
