Chapter 112: Counterattack 38
“Ming Xia, what did you say?”
Liu Qinxin felt as if struck by lightning; her rosy little face turned deathly pale in an instant. The phone in her hand slipped from her grasp and clattered to the floor with a deafening crash.
Crazy?
What does “crazy” even mean?
What is crazy?
She stumbled, her body instantly toppling backward.
Ming Shuo’s expression also changed dramatically in an instant, but his eyes were razor-sharp. Just as Liu Qinxin was about to fall to the ground, he reached out and caught her waist. “Qin Qin, don’t panic! What happened? Take your time and tell me!”
“Jiajia! Brother Shuo, Jiajia…”
Tears streamed down her face, her eyes bloodshot red, as she pointed at the shattered phone on the floor, her fingers trembling and her lips quivering.
Ming Shuo furrowed his brow tightly. He helped Liu Qinxin, who had completely lost her balance, sit down on the sofa, then picked up the phone from the floor and held it to his ear, saying, “Hello.”
On the other end of the line, someone finally heard a response—though it wasn’t Liu Qinxin anymore. The angry ranting stopped, and the voice said, “Brother, thank goodness we finally got through to you! Where are you and Liu Qinxin now? Hurry back—Jiajia’s gone mad and is running amok at home. If you don’t come back soon, Mom and I will go crazy too!”
“What? Don’t make wild accusations!”
Ming Shuo snapped.
Ming Xia on the other end immediately retorted, “Would I ever make something like this up? Look at your phone—just a few minutes ago I sent you a video. That kid Jiajia is really insane, I’m not the one yelling at her! Brother, you and Liu Qinxin, hurry back home! I can’t handle this alone!”
“Take good care of her—we’ll be right back.”
Ming Shuo hung up the phone without saying another word to Liu Qinxin. Instead, he reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder. “Qin Qin, how are you? Can you stand up yet?”
“Yes.”
Liu Qinxin was still shaking, her tear-streaked face growing even more swollen, her eyes blazing red—but she put her hand on Ming Shuo’s big one and, with his help, managed to pull herself to her feet.
At that moment, she wished she could sprout wings and fly straight home, straight to her poor little Jiajia.
After all, any mother who truly loves her child cannot bear to see her child suffer or endure hardship, let alone fall ill and agonize.
If she could, she’d gladly take all the pain upon herself rather than let her poor child go through it.
Ming Shuo nodded, his voice low and steady. “Then come home with me.”
“Okay.”
Ming Shuo said no more, half-leading, half-supporting the weak Liu Qinxin as they headed out. At the same time, he pulled out his phone, put on his headphones, and scrolled through the message his sister Ming Xia had sent.
When he saw the image on the screen—a sleep-clad Liu Jia wielding a kitchen knife and frantically slashing at anyone in sight—he felt a jolt in his heart.
Looking closer, the child in the video already had a vacant stare, her focus completely off.
It really did look… like madness!
Ming Shuo clenched his phone, trying to keep it hidden from the woman beside him, but it was already too late. She had seen that video clearly just now.
So he could only put his arm around her shoulder and softly reassure her, “Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to Jiajia. She… it’s probably just a temporary bad mood. No need to fret.”
“Brother Shuo…”
Liu Qinxin’s heart was already in knots. She had so many things she wanted to say, but she couldn’t bring herself to speak them all out. In the end, she could only clutch the man beside her like a lifeline, refusing to let go for a single moment.
Before long, the two of them hurried to the Ming family villa in Qingyue Mansion.
