Chapter 145: Counterattack 71
“It’s not Gu Yanxing, then who could it be?”
Ming Yue suddenly furrowed her brows and, without a second thought about whether she’d eaten or not, sat up as if on autopilot.
Over these past few days, she’d grown increasingly certain that she wasn’t the only one seeking revenge. Somewhere in the shadows, there seemed to be someone quietly moving ahead of her—faster, more ruthless, more precise, yet also more thorough and comprehensive…
“Ming Yue?”
Jiang Feng frowned too and softly called out to the person before him.
He seemed to already know who it was.
But he couldn’t say.
At least not yet.
Ming Yue either didn’t hear him or deliberately ignored him; in any case, she gave no response and just sat there motionless, lost in her own thoughts.
After pondering for a while, she suddenly threw back the blanket, jumped to her feet, and began quickly getting dressed and packing up.
Jiang Feng followed behind and called out again, “Ming Yue!”
“I’m going out for a bit,” Ming Yue said hurriedly, already fully dressed and swiftly running through her three-step hair-combing routine.
As soon as she finished, she grabbed the keys, slung her bag over her shoulder, and headed for the door.
Jiang Feng let out a quiet sigh and had no choice but to follow, asking the hasty Ming Yue, “Where are you rushing off to?”
“To see Sister Lin Xi. Don’t come along—it’s nothing dangerous.”
Ming Yue replied in a rush.
Jiang Feng didn’t listen; he simply trailed after her silently.
Ming Yue didn’t try to shoo him away either.
So the two of them soon sped off toward Lin Xi’s apartment building. After only about half an hour on the road, their car pulled up right beneath Lin Xi’s building.
Unfortunately, no sooner had they parked than Xiao Hu came rushing down the stairs, carrying Lin Xi in his arms.
Jiang Feng’s eyes widened in shock.
Ming Yue, however, hurried out of the car and stepped forward, asking, “What’s going on?”
“Sister-in-law… Xi… Sister Xi sprained her ankle. I have to take her to the Hospital.”
True to his name, Xiao Hu seemed completely oblivious to his Boss, paying no mind to whether she was his sister-in-law or not. With quick, steady strides, he hoisted Lin Xi into his arms and dashed straight to his car. Once he’d settled her in, he floored the gas pedal and shot off in a blur.
Throughout the whole ordeal, neither Ming Yue nor Jiang Feng got a good look at Lin Xi, nor did Lin Xi get a chance to speak with them.
Ming Yue: …
Damn!
What the heck?
This kid…
Is he really that fast?
Jiang Feng: …
That brat has really come into his own!
When I was injured, he wasn’t nearly this anxious or this quick to act, was he?
Could it be…
Has he finally blossomed?
Now that I think about it, judging by the way he’s behaving, there does seem to be some potential.
“So what do we do now?” Looking at the car that had sped off like a rocket, Jiang Feng shrugged and turned to the woman beside him with a wry smile.
Ming Yue was momentarily stunned, then slowly came to her senses. “What else can we do? We’ll just go after them and see what happens.”
“Chase after him?” Jiang Feng looked even more amused—and a little exasperated. He quickly explained to Ming Yue, “Save your energy. That kid’s driving skills are off the charts. He could even direct a blockbuster movie without a script!”
“What?”
“No kidding. When it comes to driving, he could beat me hands down—even with just one hand!”
“Ugh…”
Ming Yue instantly deflated.
If she couldn’t even keep up with Jiang Feng when it came to driving, then there was no way she could possibly catch up with this boisterous little guy, Xiao Hu.
