Chapter 154: Counterattack 80
The woman was wearing nothing but a bath towel.
Upon seeing Ming Kai seated in his wheelchair, she was visibly taken aback. Then, with delicate little steps, she walked straight over to him, knelt halfway down, grabbed his hand and kissed it, forcing a pretty smile. “Where have you been? Tired, I suppose? Shall I help you get some rest, or maybe take a shower first?”
Ming Kai remained unmoved; he withdrew his large hand, tilted his head back to look at the woman, his gaze icy cold. “Who let you in?”
“A-Kai…”
Tears instantly welled up in the woman’s eyes.
Still showing no sign of emotion, Ming Kai kept that same cold demeanor as he pointed toward the door and snapped, “Get out!”
The woman dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. “A-Kai, how on earth can you ever forgive me? I said it was out of sheer necessity back then—I was forced into it! Why can’t you just forgive me?”
Ming Kai said nothing, still pointing toward the door. “Out! Go back to your room! Go where you belong—don’t ever show your face here again!”
“I’m not leaving! I’m staying right here! I’m staying right here!” The woman remained on her knees, tilting her head up and staring stubbornly at Ming Kai.
Ming Kai clenched his fists, his voice low and steady. “I’ll give you one more chance—get out!”
“I said I’m not leaving!” The woman screamed, then scrambled to her feet, snatched off the bath towel without warning, and stood there in front of Ming Kai, one hand gripping his, pressing it tightly against her chest. “I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving! A-Kai, I’m sorry—I’m begging your forgiveness—I’ll do whatever you want! Please don’t treat me like this! Just look at me one more time—this is A-Ci, your A-Ci! We were once so in love—have you really forgotten all that?”
Tears poured down the woman’s face.
But Ming Kai simply closed his eyes.
The hand clutching his felt as if it had turned to wood in an instant, its warmth draining away. His thin lips parted slightly, and he slowly uttered a single sentence: “My A-Ci died long ago—died on that night when someone plotted against me, on that night when they plotted against my family.”
“Ming Kai!”
The woman shouted angrily.
Yet Ming Kai let out that same hateful sound from deep in his throat once more: “Get out!”
“You’ve seen Lin Xi, haven’t you?” the woman demanded.
Ming Kai remained silent.
The woman pressed on: “I did see her—just a few days ago, right here, in this very room, in the place where you spend every single day and night, the very place you won’t even let me set foot in.”
“Can’t understand human speech anymore, huh?”
“She’s still so beautiful—so beautiful it makes me jealous, so beautiful I want to pounce on her, rip off her mask, and see what’s hiding beneath that lovely face.”
“I’ll say it again—get out!”
“She likes you! I knew it back then! The way she looks at you is completely different from how she looks at other men—even her gaze toward Ming Yue and Ming Yao is unusually tender.”
“Gang Zi, come in and get this madwoman out of here!”
“Gang Zi, I’m naked—if you want to come in and take a look, go ahead and come in!”
Two voices—one from each person.
Outside the door, Gang Zi had just raised his hand to push the door open, only to pull it back in an instant, standing frozen like a steel rod at the doorway—neither going in nor staying out seemed right.
A moment later, the woman continued: “She’s still waiting for you, isn’t she? Now that you’ve got her, you don’t need me anymore, right? So please let me go! Let me go! Let my family go too! Can’t you just let us completely disappear from your life?”
