Chapter 91: Counterattack 17

“Qiancheng, Yanxing, what on earth is going on? What’s all the commotion so early in the morning!”

When he called out “Qiancheng,” Jiang Feng shouted so loudly that Liu Jia, who was whimpering inside, could hear him perfectly—there was no way she’d miss it.

By contrast, when he mentioned “Yanxing,” his tone was noticeably softer.

Ming Yue could tell exactly what he was trying to convey; as she looked at him, a faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

Others might not have noticed, but he saw it in an instant.

Meanwhile, inside the room, Liu Jia heard Fu Qiancheng’s shout and instinctively lifted her head, only to see Fu Qiancheng standing by the door alongside Ming Yue, watching the scene unfold.

Liu Jia let out another piercing scream and immediately burrowed into Liu Qin Xin’s arms.

Just then, Shen Luochen arrived.

She had no idea what was happening here; thinking something must have happened to her son, she anxiously cried out, “Qiancheng, what’s wrong? Let Mom take a look!”

That voice pierced Liu Jia’s ears once more.

Liu Jia no longer had the courage to face anyone. Clutching her mother Liu Qin Xin tightly around the waist, she wept with heart-wrenching sobs.

Not a single one of the shirtless men by the bed dared to utter a word; they all lowered their heads and huddled in a corner.

Liu Hao was much the same—he didn’t dare lift his eyes to look at Liu Qin Xin or Ming Shuo.

Ming Shuo, his face dark with anger, summoned the club manager inside and slammed the door shut. Before closing it, he shot Ming Yue a vicious glare, as if he wanted to kill her.

Ming Yue shrugged nonchalantly, completely unfazed.

At this moment, Gu Yanyun kindly explained to Jiang Feng and Shen Luochen, “We don’t know exactly what happened. When we heard the noise and rushed over to barge open the door, we saw Liu Jia lying there with several men. Then her parents pushed us aside and stormed in—and after that, you’re seeing what you’re seeing now.”

Jiang Feng let out an “Oh” and fell silent.

Gu Yanxing seemed to be watching a play: he glanced at the tightly shut door, then at Ming Yue and Fu Qiancheng, before finally fixing his deep gaze on Jiang Feng—but he said nothing at all.

Shen Shule, ever loyal, tried to cover An Le’s eyes, but An Le repeatedly slapped her hand away.

Fu Qiancheng, meanwhile, clutched Ming Yue’s little hand tightly, shielding her with his body and saying nothing else. When Gu Yanyun turned to Ming Yue, puzzled, and said, “Sister Yue, last night wasn’t…” Fu Qiancheng suddenly, without any warning, stomped hard on Gu Yanyun’s instep, forcibly muting him.

“Mom, everything’s fine here now. You can go back first—I’m perfectly well,” Fu Qiancheng said, dismissing his mother.

Shen Luochen was skeptical. “Really?”

“Really.”

“You?”

“I’ll be home later. You go back first, okay?”

“Okay.”

Shen Luochen felt rather baffled. She’d received a message saying her son was ill here and urging her to come pick him up right away. How could things turn out like this? And then there’s this Ming Yue…

Shen Luochen couldn’t help feeling deeply uncomfortable as she watched the hand Ming Yue held in her son’s grasp.

Yet in public, she didn’t lose her temper or say a single reproach; she merely reminded her son, “Make sure you keep your word. Your grandparents are really missing you—when you have time, hurry back.”

“Okay.”

Fu Qiancheng replied promptly.

Shen Luochen stopped pressing the issue and cast one last glance at the closed door, letting out a quiet sigh: “As expected, someone born to be a third party really is a third party. They may seem obedient and well-behaved on the surface, but who would’ve thought they’d be so reckless behind the scenes! Lucky my son didn’t fall for them—otherwise, if he’d brought one home, that would’ve truly been a disaster for our family!”

“Mom, please don’t talk about today’s incident outside, okay?” Fu Qiancheng seemed to have guessed something and urged his mother accordingly.

Shen Luochen immediately retorted, “What are you talking about? Do you think I’m the kind of person who gossips endlessly? What business do I have with other people’s family matters? I’d never dream of spreading such rumors!”

“That’s good then. Go home now, and be careful on the way.”

“You be careful too.”

With that, Shen Luochen took her leave.
