Chapter 11: Embarking on a New Life
Aunt Chen never in her wildest dreams imagined things would turn out like this. When Secretary Yang first called her, she had been thinking of Song Qingtian’s endless nitpicking and was ready to refuse.
But since she’d never had children of her own and adored Nuonuo so much, she’d been worried sick about whether Nuonuo would be well cared for during her absence—and finally agreed.
Now that Song Qingtian was acting this way, she actually felt she’d been petty all along and quickly waved her hand.
“Miss Song, please don’t say that! You’re Nuonuo’s mom—of course you love her the most!”
After exchanging a few more polite pleasantries, Nuonuo happily took Aunt Chen to see her new toys.
Song Qingtian returned to the Bedroom and rummaged through the drawer until she found the divorce agreement.
It was something Ling Hanyu had taken a photo of and sent to her before, saying that no matter when, as soon as Song Qingtian signed it, they’d be divorced immediately.
Song Qingtian had torn up countless copies of the agreement, but the next day another one would always turn up. After a while, she simply stopped paying attention to it.
With a carefree flourish, she signed her name and placed the divorce agreement in the most prominent spot in Ling Hanyu’s study.
Having arranged everything to her satisfaction, she tidied her makeup and headed out.
She still quite liked this life now… In the book, Song Qingtian’s figure was really quite good—she looked great in anything—and, most importantly, there was Qin Zhengxiao, such a perfect, heartthrob-type guy, filling her life with hope.
As dusk began to fall, when Song Qingtian appeared in the restaurant’s private room, Qin Zhengxiao was already there.
The others were probably their classmates. Although Song Qingtian hadn’t yet made the connection, with Qin Zhengxiao by her side, she felt completely at ease.
“You’re finally here! If you’d taken any longer, Zhengxiao would’ve come to pick you up!” said one of the female classmates whose name Song Qingtian couldn’t even remember.
“Alright, Qian Tiantian, stop teasing Song Qingtian,” another boy chimed in.
“Hurry up and sit down,” Qin Zhengxiao said, completely ignoring the others’ chatter and ushering Song Qingtian to the seat right in the middle.
“Qingtian, did you know? Zhengxiao moved the Company from City C back to City A just for you!” Qian Tiantian didn’t bother with the other classmates’ protests; he poured Song Qingtian a glass of wine first, clinked glasses with her, and said, “I just don’t get you—why would you turn down such a wonderful man as Zhengxiao and insist on clinging to that husband who doesn’t love you? This birthday party is really something Zhengxiao put a lot of thought into.”
Qian Tiantian was straightforward and had always gotten along well with Song Qingtian, so he spoke very directly.
Hearing this, Song Qingtian glanced over at Qin Zhengxiao.
It wasn’t until she arrived that she realized this class reunion was actually being held to celebrate her birthday—there was no denying she was touched. Still, hearing such blunt words made her a bit embarrassed.
Qin Zhengxiao quickly stepped in to stop Qian Tiantian. “Could you cut it out? Moving the company to City A is just part of its normal development strategy. Let’s cut the cake already—Qingtian, make a wish!”
He didn’t want to put any pressure on Song Qingtian and quickly changed the subject.
“Okay, okay—I’ll make a wish then.”
Song Qingtian closed her eyes, pressed her hands together, and silently prayed:
“From this moment on, I am Song Qingtian. I will raise Nuonuo well, get a divorce from Ling Hanyu, and live the rest of my life to the fullest.”
After that, the old classmates started chatting animatedly, eating and drinking, and the atmosphere really warmed up. Song Qingtian ended up drinking quite a bit too.
Feeling a bit unwell after too much alcohol, she slipped out of the restaurant for some fresh air while she was in the restroom.
No sooner had she stood outside the restaurant for a moment than someone draped a coat over her shoulders.
“It’s windy out there.”
