Chapter 278: What’s the Use?
Chapter 278: What’s the Use?
Song Qingtian glanced at him and then carried her daughter into the villa.
She was familiar with the company’s legal advisor and lawyers.
“Let’s go to the kitchen—you can get busy there.”
Song Qingtian assumed Ling Hanyu still had some unfinished business, but in order to be back on time, he had brought his work home. So she thought she’d take her daughter to the kitchen to eat cake.
But Ling Hanyu called out, “Wait a minute—just a little while longer. Come here!”
Ling Hanyu turned around and walked over to the sofa.
Song Qingtian followed him. The family of three sat down, while the others each took out several documents—more than a dozen in total.
Ling Hanyu pulled out his ID card and asked Song Qingtian for hers.
Song Qingtian asked, “Why do you need my ID?”
“Aren’t we getting divorced?”
Song Qingtian glanced at the person opposite her, looking rather bewildered. Did divorce really require such a big setup?
Still, Song Qingtian was willing, so she got up and brought out her ID.
The lawyers immediately got to work, and Song Qingtian did indeed see the divorce agreement, which she signed.
Soon, after going through multiple procedures, Song Qingtian and Ling Hanyu were officially divorced.
What Song Qingtian hadn’t expected was that divorce could be so troublesome.
The lawyers packed up their things and told Song Qingtian, “Ms. Song, you now own all the assets under Mr. Ling’s name, custody of Miss Nuonuo also belongs to you, as well as the properties here and in Tianhaige, plus some past assets—roughly speaking… about 90 billion.”
Song Qingtian’s head spun. “What did you say?”
“We’ll be taking our leave.”
The other party turned and left, but Song Qingtian called out, “Wait! Let me first…”
Song Qingtian found it odd—wasn’t this just the divorce agreement?
Yet the lawyers paid no attention at all, as if they had prearranged everything.
Song Qingtian simply couldn’t catch up with them.
She turned around and looked at Ling Hanyu.
Ling Nuonuo was eagerly preparing to eat the cake.
The cake’s packaging was so beautiful that Ling Nuonuo couldn’t bear to open it.
But Ling Hanyu personally helped his daughter open it and even picked up a bite to feed her.
“Daddy, it’s delicious!”
“Mm, it’s delicious!”
While Ling Hanyu was feeding his daughter, Song Qingtian went over and sat down beside them.
After agonizing for a long time, Song Qingtian finally asked, “Ling Hanyu, what are you trying to say?”
We’re just getting divorced—how did this turn into a transfer of assets?
She can make her own money; she doesn’t want Ling Hanyu’s money.
What would a woman even do with so much money?
What if something happens to her…
Ling Hanyu didn’t even turn around. “I’ve already made it clear: if anything happens to you, neither your father nor your daughter will take a single penny—we’ll donate it all.”
“What?”
Song Qingtian was dumbfounded. “What did you just say?”
“I said, while you’re still here, let’s enjoy ourselves to the fullest—otherwise, once you’re gone, we won’t get a thing.”
“Ling Hanyu, have you lost your mind?”
Song Qingtian could hardly believe it.
If he wanted to, he could even sleep on the streets—that’s his problem.
What about Nuonuo?
But feeling something was off, Song Qingtian asked, “Then what about the part belonging to the Song Family? That’s mine—I can leave it to Nuonuo, right?”
Ling Nuonuo thought that made sense and nodded.
Mommy’s is hers.
But the result…
Ling Hanyu put the small cake down, and Ling Nuonuo hurriedly ate it herself.
Her little hands protected the cake, afraid it would be gone before she finished.
She couldn’t even bring herself to eat it—after all, Daddy said sweets shouldn’t be eaten too often; too many will ruin your teeth.
She didn’t want to lose her teeth.
Ling Hanyu looked at Song Qingtian very seriously. “I had planned to do that, but then I thought: once you no longer have any worries, you might end up doing something that both your father and daughter will regret. So I decided not to keep any of it. But don’t worry—everything is yours. As long as you’re here, you can spend it however you like.”
Song Qingtian stared at Ling Hanyu, wishing she could strangle him.
He stood up and escorted Song Qingtian back upstairs.
Ling Hanyu called out, “Where are you going?”
“Dreaming!”
Song Qingtian wanted to die!
Back upstairs, she immediately lay down on the bed.
Song Qingtian felt an indescribable mix of emotions.
She knew what Ling Hanyu was thinking—he wanted her to stay and never think about leaving again.
But she was also born of her parents; she wanted to see her father.
She hadn’t yet fulfilled her filial duty!
It wasn’t hatred—it was just not knowing what to do.
On one side was her daughter and that big jerk Ling Hanyu; on the other side was her old father. What should she do?
Just thinking about it made her heart ache.
Someone opened the door, and Song Qingtian wiped away her tears.
She looked toward the doorway, and Ling Hanyu pushed the door open and walked in.
He stood there and said, “I’m sorry—I don’t want you to leave!”
Song Qingtian sat up, her eyes red.
Ling Hanyu thought Song Qingtian would burst into tears.
But instead, she threw a pillow at him. “What’s the point of talking about this now?”
