Chapter 103: Counterattack 29
During the brief trip downstairs, Ming Yue imagined countless scenarios and visualized many scenes—but she never in a million years expected to see exactly this.
The mighty President Jiang, none other than Jiang Feng himself, had actually disguised himself as a taxi driver, wearing a black baseball cap and a hair wig, sitting behind the wheel of a taxi and waiting for her right outside the building.
Ming Yue was momentarily taken aback and couldn’t quite recognize him at first.
It wasn’t until she got into the car as Jiang Feng had instructed, and Jiang Feng in the driver’s seat shifted his cap slightly to the left, turned around, and waved at her in greeting, that she finally realized it was indeed Jiang Feng.
“What’s wrong? Am I too handsome for you with my new look?”
Seeing Ming Yue still standing there in a daze, Jiang Feng smiled and beckoned to her.
Ming Yue curled her lips. “Can’t you have a little bit of shame?”
“Come on, what do you mean? Not handsome enough?”
Jiang Feng scratched his head, looking rather dejected.
Ming Yue rolled her eyes. “Fine, fine—handsome, the most handsome man in the world, okay?”
“Now we’re talking,” he said with satisfaction, straightening his cap before turning to ask, “What would you like to eat?”
“Whatever,” Ming Yue replied, leaning her head back and closing her eyes to fall asleep.
Jiang Feng hummed in response, already having made up his mind. He glanced once more at the tail following behind them, then said to Ming Yue in the backseat, “Hold on tight—let’s shake off that tail first, and then I’ll take you somewhere delicious.”
“Oh, so you’re planning to show off your driving skills now? With your old bones and weak legs, are you really up to it?”
Ming Yue didn’t like the bright streetlights, so she casually grabbed something to shield her face.
The unnamed male operative in the driver’s seat let out a snort. “How can you look down on my old bones and weak legs like that? But whether these old bones and weak legs are any good or not—others may not know, but you certainly do, don’t you?”
“Go to hell! I sure don’t!” Ming Yue shot back without hesitation.
Yet Jiang Feng just laughed heartily.
Taking a moment to stop bickering, he suddenly floored the gas pedal, accelerating rapidly. After weaving through several turns and bends, he quickly shook off the tail trailing behind them.
By the time the drowsy Ming Yue woke up, the car was already cruising smoothly down the street again.
It seemed as though he was being considerate of her, driving with remarkable steadiness.
But Ming Yue wasn’t appreciative at all. She rubbed her eyes, gazed out the window as the car slowly receded, and said lightly, “So fast? Already shaken them off? Not bad speed—never would’ve guessed these old bones and weak legs could still be useful.”
“Haven’t these old bones and weak legs always been useful? What’s the matter—short on free time? Didn’t get your fill yet?”
“Go to hell!”
“Can’t even move.”
For a moment, the car fell silent. One person laughing cheerfully, the other wearing an expression of utter disdain.
After circling halfway around the city, the car finally pulled up at an unassuming roadside restaurant. There wasn’t a single customer inside—just two employees still bustling about.
With no customers at all, it was hard to tell what the two were busy with, but they showed absolutely no sign of laziness; instead, they were full of energy and vitality.
Upon seeing Ming Yue and Jiang Feng, the two immediately greeted them with smiles.
Ming Yue had already guessed what was going on, but she still put up a tough front, saying with a sneer, “You said you’d take me out to eat—and this is it? A tiny little place with zero customers—what kind of delicious food could there possibly be?”
Employee One: …
Employee Two: …
Jiang Feng took her hand and said gently, “Have a little bit of conscience, will you? Can’t you see they’ve cleared the place just for you? Or maybe your internet speed isn’t good enough, and you haven’t heard of this restaurant’s reputation yet?”
Even as he spoke, his tone was incredibly tender.
Ming Yue instantly broke out in goosebumps.
Meanwhile, the two employees were forcibly fed a mouthful of overly sweet dog food. They looked at each other, neither saying a word, but both wondering: Who on earth is this woman, and why is she so lucky? How could President Jiang go to such lengths for her?
