Chapter 65: A Beating
“What do you want to say?”
Ming Yue looked up and met the unnamed male operative’s gaze.
The man, meanwhile, was reminded of all sorts of past events—some of them quite vivid—and happened to catch sight of her lips at that very moment. His throat worked involuntarily a few times, and he let out a sigh before shaking his head and saying, “It’s nothing important. I just wanted to remind you—you’re still a woman.”
“A woman shouldn’t live like she does!”
Of course, he didn’t actually say those words.
Ming Yue didn’t ask either; she simply replied coolly, “No need for you to remind me.”
“Ming Yue…”
“Enough. You don’t need to worry about my affairs. The police should be here any minute now.”
“Ming…”
“You just follow that person later—don’t say a thing else, just pin it all on me.”
“You…”
“My family’s in a mess; stay far away and don’t get yourself into trouble.”
Ming Yue was concise and to the point, not waiting for Jiang Feng to finish his sentence before laying out her plan.
As soon as she finished speaking, she had already gathered all of Fu Qiancheng’s identification and valuables from the car.
After glancing at Jiang Feng twice, the little hands that were about to hand everything over to him quietly withdrew, then naturally slipped the items into their own pockets.
With everything settled, Ming Yue jumped out of the car and started to walk away.
But Jiang Feng reached out and grabbed her wrist. “You’re afraid I’ll get myself into trouble, but you’re not worried about Fu Qiancheng getting himself into trouble?”
The scene from just moments ago still lingered before his eyes.
For some reason, it left a bitter taste in his mouth.
And when he thought about her words, the feeling only grew worse.
Ming Yue remained silent for a moment, then reached out and slowly peeled each of his fingers off her wrist.
“He’s already made a mess of himself—he can’t escape it. You’re different.”
“How am I different?”
“You know perfectly well.”
“I don’t.”
“Jiang Feng, this is pointless. Right now, all I can think about is beating someone up and getting revenge; I’m in no mood to play word games with you here.”
Ming Yue finally broke free from the man and walked straight ahead without even looking back.
She headed straight for the battered car belonging to those two men.
After all, compared with the state of Fu Qiancheng’s car, that vehicle was still in slightly better shape—it could at least be driven for a bit.
As for the two guys on the road, she couldn’t care less whether they lived or died.
Coincidentally, Jiang Feng felt the same way.
So when Ming Yue started the engine, he also came over to the car and, without any warning, hopped right into the passenger seat.
“What are you doing?”
Ming Yue didn’t stop; she just turned her head to glance at the man, her brow slightly furrowed.
The man slammed the door shut and said calmly, “I’m going to pick up your corpse.”
“No need.”
“I promised Yan Xing and Yan Yun.”
“Jiang Feng!”
“Drive!”
“Get out!”
“I’m too tired.”
“You!”
“When did you become so slow? Just drive!”
Jiang Feng buckled his seatbelt, pulled out his phone and sent a message, then put the phone away and stared silently at the pitch-black night ahead.
Ming Yue, too, was too tired to waste any more words; she ignored the man beside her and kept driving forward.
Soon, Ming Yue arrived at the spot the unnamed male operative had indicated—but there was no sign of that damn Liu Fan.
All that was there was a slovenly guard, muttering complaints and yawning.
At the sight of Ming Yue, the man instantly snapped awake, rubbed his eyes vigorously, and began swallowing saliva uncontrollably, his eyes glued to her petite face.
“You… how did you end up here?”
