Chapter 68: I’m Sorry
“He…”
Hearing Jiang Feng speak in this way, Ming Yue’s heart immediately leapt into her throat.
Especially when she thought of that sickly-looking man—if he were to find out about her relationship with Jiang Feng…
Jiang Feng seemed to sense Ming Yue’s worry, and once again a wave of inexplicable resentment welled up in his chest.
But instead of pressing her further, he swallowed those emotions himself and comforted her: “Don’t worry, I haven’t admitted it. Still, given Gu Yanxing’s intelligence, even if I don’t admit it, it won’t change his judgment.
The only thing I’m relieved about is that he cares far more about Fu Qiancheng than he does about me—he’d never tell Fu Qiancheng about any of this at a time like this.”
“Mm.”
Ming Yue’s heart, which had just been hanging in the balance, sank back into her stomach.
She knew this secret couldn’t be kept forever.
Sooner or later, Fu Qiancheng would find out.
But she hoped that by the time Fu Qiancheng learned, his body wouldn’t be as fragile as it was now—so fragile that any unexpected shock could take his life in an instant.
Jiang Feng fell silent for a moment, refusing to mention Fu Qiancheng again, not even a single word. Instead, he explained, “Come back with me and stay overnight. I’ve called a private doctor; you’ve got some injuries that need tending to.”
She didn’t see the doctor.
She didn’t even take any medicine.
Back at the Qingyue Estate—the den of wolves…
“No, I don’t need to…” Ming Yue tried to refuse.
But Jiang Feng gave her no chance to say no. “You can refuse. In that case, I’ll just take you straight back to the Ming family. But think carefully: there are certain clues that Gu Yanxing will quickly piece together, and your brilliant, top-notch father might very well figure them out too.”
“You…”
“Come back with me.”
Jiang Feng was blunt and said no more.
Finally, Ming Yue gave in and stopped struggling.
Soon the car was back on the main road, carrying the two of them forward. Half an hour later, it pulled up in front of a villa in the Baihuayuan Villa District in the southern part of the city.
As soon as they entered the gate, a man and a woman were waiting there.
Ming Yue didn’t recognize the man, but judging by his attire, he must be the private doctor Jiang Feng had mentioned—a tall, strikingly handsome figure.
She did know the woman, though: she was the villa’s Butler, responsible for cleaning, maintenance, and other duties. Ming Yue didn’t know her real name, but Jiang Feng called her Sister Ning.
“Sir, everything has been arranged exactly as you instructed. Is there anything else you’d like to add?” Sister Ning stepped forward with a smile, then turned to Ming Yue and politely addressed her as ‘Miss Ming.’
Ming Yue returned her smile.
Jiang Feng took Ming Yue’s hand and shook his head. “No need. You’ve worked hard. You may go back now—it’s late, so please be careful on the way.”
“Thank you, Sir. Good night, Sir and Miss Ming,” Sister Ning said respectfully before withdrawing.
Jiang Feng nodded, led Ming Yue into the house, and instructed the doctor to examine her while he sat quietly by her side, waiting.
Once the examination was over and the medicine prescribed, Jiang Feng wasted no time: he hauled her upstairs to the bedroom bathroom, and before she could even move, he lifted up her clothes.
Ming Yue hurriedly grabbed his hand. “What are you doing?”
“What else could I be doing? Taking advantage of you in the middle of the night?”
Jiang Feng rolled his eyes, ignored her protests, and continued stripping off her clothes. Then he began examining her from head to toe, making sure there were no other wounds before finally leaving the bathroom.
By the time Ming Yue finished her bath and came out, he was already waiting in the bedroom with a steaming bowl of noodles, along with the medicine Lao Liu had prescribed for her.
“Come here, let me apply the ointment for you.”
Jiang Feng set the noodles aside and picked up the medicine.
Without hesitation, Ming Yue dried her hair as she walked over to him, sitting quietly beside him while he gently rubbed the irritating ointment onto each of her wounds.
